What is an Information Architect?

An Architect creates buildings, structures and towns for people to live, work and play in, and the work of a good architect will improve the value and create a more effective environment for its intended purpose, we Information Architects do the same thing we develop an environment to allow people to better work, play and live in on the web, in software in fact at any point where some one wants to communicate with a system.

    What is Information Architecture?

The process of modelling a system and giving a structured design to the way people uses systems. IA (Information Architecture) to model and understand a system whether it exists or it is still in the concept stage. The process allows for:

    • The structural design of shared information environments.
    • The art and science of organizing and labelling web sites, intranets, online communities and software to support find ability and usability.
    • An emerging community of practice focused on bringing principles of design and architecture to the digital landscape.

Why do I focus on it?

From my experience the time spent on Information Architecture allows both the project team and the customer to understand the system they are looking to develop. Using Information Architecture coupled with a focus on usability we can assure that you deliver a finished product that provides the relevant information and is accessible to the users.
