Civic Computing is an Edinburgh-based digital consultancy with over twenty years of experience across the public and private sectors. The company works with a broad range of organisations — from local authorities and water companies to universities and consumer bodies — helping them design, build, and maintain digital services that genuinely work for their users.
The work spans several core areas. Discovery and user experience helps organisations understand their users through research, testing, and service design — often uncovering where legacy systems or poor information architecture are creating friction. Web design and development ranges from WordPress and Drupal-based sites to bespoke application development, with a particular strength in integrating custom solutions with existing business systems. Hosting and support provides managed infrastructure, both cloud-based and on-premises, with the security and redundancy that large organisations require. Accessibility evaluations and testing — informed by deep knowledge of WCAG and user-centred testing — helps clients meet both regulatory requirements and genuine inclusion principles. And design and creative services cover everything from branding and visual identity through to digital campaigns and user-interface design.
The company’s flagship product is Cookie Control, a world-leading consent management platform used on thousands of websites and purpose-built for GDPR, CCPA, and other global privacy regulations. It has been developed in close collaboration with clients to balance compliance, user experience, and technical flexibility. Cookie Control is the first of a developing suite of compliance products that extends Civic’s reach into the broader landscape of organisational governance and data management.
What binds this work together is a philosophy: that digital work is fundamentally about understanding people — their needs, their context, their expectations — and building systems that serve them rather than the other way around. The company is structured as fully remote, operating primarily across the UK and Greece.

My work at Civic focuses on strategy, governance, and the longer-term direction of the company, working alongside the board and senior management team.
